Gale Hammons is a longtime messaging and communications strategist with more than 15 years of experience as an opinion leader for corporate multimedia newspaper companies, including editorial page editor of The Press-Enterprise from 2003-2014. She directed the company’s opinion division while providing business analysis for executives on audience and revenue growth. Currently, she is the director of Hammons Strategies, a Riverside, California-based strategic messaging and communications company whose clients include large and small businesses,  public agencies, elected officials and candidates for elected office.  Hammons Strategies provides support in areas such as content strategy, brand development, digital strategy, marketing, social media strategy, campaign strategy,  public relations, media relations, storytelling, persuasive writing, and website content development.

In more than a decade directing the Opinion division of the Press-Enterprise, Gale determined the daily policy position or communications message of the company,  on deadline, for an audience of tens of thousands on print, web, digital and mobile platforms. Gale also provided business analysis for the company’s C-level executives on marketing and digital content initiatives.

Gale was raised in the East Bay area in the city of Lafayette, California and received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of California, San Diego. She completed her M.J. in Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley and her MBA at the University of California, Riverside.

As a dedicated worker, Gale has been the recipient of several writing, editing, and newspaper leadership awards from the California Newspaper Publishers Association, the Society of Profession Journalists, Best of the West, McClatchy Newspapers, and the California First Amendment Coalition, 1998-2014. In addition, she led has led multiple project teams as a member of Senior Staff at the Press-Enterprise.
