Kathy is a long-time educator and community leader. Wright attended Riverside City College in the 1960s before transferring to San Diego State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree and teaching credential. She returned to her hometown of Riverside to earn a master’s degree from UC Riverside and a doctorate in Education from the University of LaVerne.

Her 37-year career comprised of teaching and school administration, ending as superintendent of the Alvord Unified School District. As an educator, Wright was instrumental in establishing award-winning AVID programs at AUSD middle schools and the International Baccalaureate program at Norte Vista High School.

Her community service includes the Greater Riverside Dollars for Scholars, The Mission Inn Foundation, the Riverside Dickens Festival, the Riverside Assistance League, the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce, and the Inlandia Institute.

Community recognition includes Riverside Community College District’s 58th Alumnus of the Year (2014), Athena of Riverside Award (2014), and was selected by the Scholarship America program as the 2012 Cy Seifert National Volunteer of the Year.
